Do You Even Know Who Is Selling You a Water Softener?

DON’T BE FOOLED BY LOWEST PRICES OR FALSE CLAIMS.  DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU BUY.  START BY ASKING YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS:

  • Did your softener come from an actual water treatment facility or was it assembled in someone’s garage?
  • What kind of resin was used in your softener?
  • Did you get the amount of resin that you paid for?
  • Is your valve or tank refurbished?  How do you know?
  • Did you actually get the equipment and features that you paid for?  Are you sure?
  • Is the warranty legitimate? How do you know?
  • Is the seller offering you a cash/under-the-table deal?  If so, guess what?  You have no warranty or recourse!

TIPS TO ENSURE YOU ARE NOT BEING SCAMMED:

  • Ask where the seller gets his softeners.  If he says, “Factory-Direct” or from the “Manufacturer”, then ask which Factory/Manufacturer and then contact them yourself, to verify that the seller is an actual dealer/distributor for that company.
  • Ask the company if they can speak to the seller’s reputation.  An excellent company to contact is USF Watergroup.  They have been manufacturing and distributing water softening equipment of many major brand names, all over North America for over five decades.  They are located in Cambridge, Ontario and they know who the legitimate dealers are!  You can also contact IWT, based in Kitchener, Ontario.  They too, have a long history and superior level of experience in the water treatment industry.  One phone call can save you hundreds, even thousands of dollars.
  • Call your local BBB and see if any complaints have been made against the seller.
  • Does the seller have a store or legitimate web-store?  Do they have a business phone line or only receive calls from a cell phone? Do they have a cut-and paste web-site, using pictures and descriptions taken from a manufacturer’s site or other dealers’ sites?  Do a google search.
  • Do any of these sellers belong to the Water Quality Association http://www.wqa.org or to the Canadian Water Quality Association http://www.cwqa.com? Check and see if they are members and in good standing.

  •  There are Quality Water Treatment Dealers and Distributors out there who do run legitimate specials to remain competitive with the current market.  Just do your homework and choose carefully!
